New logo: International Year of Cooperatives
The United Nations has a long history of proclaiming international years. For example, we are now in the middle of the International Year of Chemistry.
2012 will be the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC). The logo for this event has recently been revealed. It was posted to the IYC Facebook page on March 21, and launched in full on April 5. The logo was developed by the Graphic Design Unit at the United Nations in New York.
Many logos for UN activities involving human beings include pictograms of people, and so does this one. It is made up of seven people in different orange shades holding up a cube in the same orange shades. There are six official language variants in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian, the official UN languages.
