New logo: Seat

Back in July, the Spanish auto maker Seat released some of images of the latest version of its Seat Léon model that clearly featured an updated Seat logo at the front. A few days later, a flat version also appeared on several motor blogs. Yet, there was no confirmation from Seat. Last week, on September 27 on the Paris Motor Show, Seat "unveiled its new logo to the world", apparently ignoring the premature roll-out from a few months ago.

The S badge has been straightened up and made sleeker, while remaining true to its heritage. It was said to reflect the brand's values, "clean, pure design and precise, quality engineering".

New logo: Datsun

Nissan Motors is planning a revival of Datsun, a classic car brand that was phased out and replaced by the Nissan brand during the 1980s. The new Datsun will be an affordable brand for emerging markets, and the plan is to launch in India, Indonesia and Russia in 2014.

The logo for the new Datsun was unveiled with the announcement this week. It takes inspiration from the previous Datsun logo, but drops the red Japanese sun for a blue design.

New logo: Hero Motocorp

The Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero Honda was founded in 1984 as a joint venture between Honda from Japan and the Indian bicycle maker Hero. Some time ago, it was decided that Honda was to leave the group, making Hero the sole owner. As a result, the company has been renamed Hero MotoCorp, and yesterday, August 9, its new corporate identity was unveiled in London at a test cricket match between England and India. The new identity was developed by Wolff Olins.

The new symbol is made up of three shapes that make up the letter H standing at an angle. The red and black colours are carried over from the previous corporate identity.

Hero Motocorp is a leader on the Indian motorcycle market. Ending the joint venture with Honda means it will be allowed to export its motorcycles outside India.

New logo: Škoda Auto

Remember in early March, when Škoda Auto unveiled a new logo? Well, it seems they weren't that happy with the version they first presented because, as the German design blog Design Tagebuch reports vi Novinky.cz, an updated version has started appearing on websites associated with the Czech automaker, just 4-5 months after the previous version.

Previous logo.

The biggest change on the new logo is that the gradients and bevels have been completely reworked, fixing some obvious problems with the first execution. The updated logo has been used at least since middle on July.

New logo: Škoda Auto

The the Volkswagen-owned Czech automaker Škoda Auto recently announced that it was going to reveal a new logo for the International Motorshow in Geneva. Škoda have kept a lid on it until yesterday evening (February 28), when the new corporate identity was unveiled.

The new logo removes the name Škoda Auto from the outer ring, à la Starbucks. The winged arrow is now more prominent. The green colour of the figure has changed from "natural green" to a new tint called "Škoda green".

A new logo has been floating around on the Internet at least since November last year. It had the winged arrow symbol in white on a green circle with a blue border. I don't think that logo was ever confirmed by Škoda.

According to Škoda, the winged arrow dates back to 1926, and the previous design is from the 1990s.
