New logo: Viacom Blink!
Today, May 6, Viacom International Media Networks and the Dutch international television group Endemol announced the launch of a new international channel brand which will join powerhouses like MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central. The brand is called Viacom Blink! and will be used for television channels targeting women between 16-49, a group not specifically served by Viacom's current international brands.
The channel will first launch in Poland, a promised land for niche multichannel television. The Polish launch is scheduled for this summer, and the companies hope to launch Viacom Blink! other areas later on, specifically exploring Central Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
The channel will showcase formats and progammes from both companies. Viacom and Endemol are already cooperating around other local projects, such as the Colors channel in India and Comedy Central Family in the Netherlands.
The logo for the channel has been presented with the announcement. It consists of an orange sphere with the channel name on it and a curved exclamation mark. Viacom's wordmark is on the logo as well, and orange is Viacom's corporate color. Currently, the Viacom name is rarely used facing consumers, no other channel uses it as a supporting brand. Will it still be there when the channel eventually launches?
